Galata Kulesi edit

It was built by the Genoese on the city walls of Galata, then a western (Genoese/Venetian) stronghold beside eastern (Byzantine/Ottoman) Constantinople. Ride an elevator and take two flights of stairs to the top (25 TL - Museum Pass not valid), then walk the parapet for a 360-degree view of Istanbul, including the entire Sultanahmet peninsula: crowned by Topkapı Palace, the Blue Mosque and Hagia Sophia. A beautiful spot worthy of a lot of pictures. Also has a restaurant and a café at the top.

  • Your Istanbul trip won't be complete if you miss the view from the Galata Tower! In the evenings a very nice spot to hang out and enjoy some Drinks outside and listen to some People making good alternative Music ;) Close to the "Road of Music" so a lot of Hippies all over the place! :)

  • Man muss sich zwar ein bisschen anstellen, bis man mit dem Lift hinauffahren kann, aber der Blick ueber den Bosporus und die Altstadt ist die Sache wert!

The best is to stroll down Istiklal Caddesi from Taksim Square and go down to the Galata tower, amazing neighbourhood! Built by the Genovese.
