The Getty Center edit

A center dedicated to the preservation of visual arts.

Though the Getty's collection includes impressive works of art largely from European masters, the real draw is the solid rotation of exhibitions, such as "Drawings by Rembrandt and His Pupils: Telling the Difference" and Drawing Life: The Dutch Visual Tradition." But the grounds are as spectacular as the art - as visitors ride a tram up the hillside, a modernist complex featuring 16,000 tons of travertine waits at the top. The huge, yet beguiling gardens soften the hard edges of the museum; in combination with jaw-dropping views of the San Gabriel Mountains and the city, the Getty is not a bad place to take a date.

  • The Getty is by far one of my most favorite places in LA, and one of the greatest museums in the world. An absolute must see! Slightly hard to get there - try to avoid rush hour and to get parking in the Museums own lot to make it easier. Than enjoy the breathtaking architecture in this unique setting with a beautiful view. Amongst all of that, its almost hard to not to forget about the usually great exhibitions.
