Ajaccio is a sunny city, located in South Corsica island, and is the capital of this french department (Bastia being the capital of North Corsica).
The city is sunny, friendly and has a lot to see, taste and offer, with a laid back atmosphere and a nice market located in the center of the town.
The "farniente" being an institution among Mediterranean countries, you'll surely appreciate the ambiance and all the nice white sand beaches stretching around the "imperial city", being the home of birth of Napoleon Bonaparte but also local notables.
Ajaccio is also the native place of the well known corsican singer Tino Rossi and has been a retreat for the french painter Matisse during quite some times.
A city to enjoy throughout the year, sunny side up ! But of course more lively in Spring and Summer time, and a good point to explore the rest of the island's treasures (such as the forests and the mountains) all accessible by trains, buses or rental cars.
Corsica being a place you'll not forget, ever !
