More than meets the reputation!

It might not generally be thought of as a prime tourist destination, especially with the tense situation in the Middle East, but Jordan has a stunning variety of destinations that should not be overlooked. From the sweeping vistas and Greco-Roman remains of Amman, the capital, all the way down to Aqaba and its renowned sunsets on the Red Sea, Jordan has a lot to offer. Just a short drive outside Aqaba, for instance, is the must-see Wadi Rum valley, so inextricably linked to Lawrence of Arabia. A beautiful resort town just hundreds of yards from Israel between Aqaba and Amman, the "rose-red" city of Petra offers the unique remains of the ancient Nabatean tribe. But Jordan is not just historical sites and sweeping views along the rift valley; central Jordan is marked by forested hills and, of course, the Dead Sea. And if you like to mix the old and the new, you can swim, play golf or tennis, and pick from a range of modern hotels.
