The Golden Tower in Sevilla was built by the Arabs in 1221 as a defense tower to avoid the enemy boats getting into the river. From its basement there was a cannel to the Fort Tower (which doesn’t exist nowadays) located on the other side of the river, in the Triana District. The Golden Tower was also used as a jail during the Middle Age and as an store for metals and nowadays it is the Naval Museum of Sevilla and contains several charts, engravings, old shipping instruments and old historical documents. From Tuesday to Friday from 9.30 to 18.45, Saturday and Sunday from 10.30 to 18.45. Monday and holidays closed. Price: 3 euro. Students and pensioners: 1.5 euro. Tuesdays: free entrance.
